Zen Buddhism

Zen Buddhism was initiated by Chinese Buddhist monks, Bodhidharma, etc., and flourished in Japan. It is unique in the sense that meditators seek to get enlightened while doing daily chores, and that they try (or rather, not to try) to transcend the mind by answering nonsensical philosophical questions (called "Koans" in Japanese). Guhen finds this method of transcendence of the mind to be based, in the final analysis, on the "Theory of Logical Types", put forward by Gregory Bateson, one of the most important thinkers of the 20th century.
